Director of Communications – PMI Central Florida Chapter (PMICFL)

Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Technology (VP of Technology), the Director of Communications will set and guide the strategy for all electronic communications, emails to chapter members, public relations messages and chapter associated messages to consistently articulate and disseminate PMI Central Florida Chapter's (PMICFL) goals and objectives. The Director of Communications will ensure that PMICFL is viewed as the primary source, disseminator, and conduit of information PMI's Central Florida Chapter.

The Director of Communications will work closely with the VP of Technology, and PMICFL Board of Directors and Associates within the organization, as a partner, on a variety of strategic initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan and activities across the chapter's audiences in collaboration with the PMICFL's team and constituents.

Be the primary source of the Chapter's information dissemination, as well as decide who, where, and when to disseminate.

Utilize all communications vehicles available to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities.

Work in tight collaboration with all technology directors and coordinate to ensure brand consistency and unified communications.

As a courtesy, coordinate webpage maintenance to ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) are posted regularly.

  • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
  • A strong record of accomplishment as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
  • High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives


Compensation and other considerations

This position is a volunteer position for PMI Central Florida and offers no compensation. PDU credit may be available depending on the length of time served and volunteer credit within the organization. This position is only active under the current VP of Technology’s term and will expire once a new VP of Technology is elected.
